  1. All Hallow's Eve... I love it, the purple, orange and black decorations hit the stores in september which seems to be earlier every passing year but i adore it.  Its the one time i find knick knacks and curiosites in which i can decorate my home with for the whole upcoming year! Lets face it 'Witch Kitsch' isnt easy to come by during the month of April.

This year is going to be slighty different.  Divination has taken over and im working so i am going to miss the army of under 12's banging on the door for their sweets.  i'm slighty sad about this fact, and i'm not overly fond of children, nor do i normally answer my door, but for this one night, i make an exception.   I liken it too the traditional New Years resolution, the one we all have about the gym, "This year im going to get fit" well...i have never achieved that, one reason could be im sat here scoffing sweets at 3am!  As i see Samhain as my New Year, much like the early Celtic traditions i start with good intentions and the obvious rebirth into a functioning member of society "This year im going to be more friendly, approachable, warm and fluffy, or whatever emotion fueled word you care to insert" I can guarantee, by mid November im slamming my door and grumbling about how much i loathe a multitude of things.

Now you know, i buy into the commercialism and love the spirit of the holiday, regardless of how you spend it, i do not see the harm in celebrating this time of year, regardless of your beliefs or lack of, i dont see it as disrespectful when peoples ideas of the season differ from my own, nor do i school them on it, unless asked of course lol.

So what will i be doing?

A tradition in my home is a Dumb Supper, where we leave out a plate for our ancestors that have gone before, We eat in silence and then bury their potion outside in the earth.

Apple bobbing is always a favourite, probably because i lose, think its because im a not so gracious winner haha! When i was a child we used to peel the apple we got and throw the skin over our shoulder and the letter it resembled was your futures husbands first name inital. i was always rubbish at it, as it fell like a limp line, whilst my friends had beautiful patterns and curves. I married a man with L as an inital. turns out i was a pro!!!

Fire is a must for me, I love sitting outside in the cold, watching the flames dancing under the stars, to some they keep the fire burning all night long. However, i give in to home comforts by 1am and sneak inside to light a candles instead. I spend some time in my sacred space, pottering about and dealing with my focus at the time, be it spellcrafting or journalling, as its rare to see me without a notepad or book.

Samhain is a perfect time for Scrying and other forms of divination, and as im out tomorrow night doing that very thing i have a packed day tomorrow, I saw my sisters tonight, hence why i am up so late munching sweets!

However you chose to spend Samhain, I wish you a magickal night.

    from my hearth to yours

  2. Where to begin.

It started on a cold day in September, we had formulated a plan, discussed both the pro's and con's, speculated the outcomes. The one way to see if it could come into fruition was too buckle up the hobnails and dust off the brooms, we were going on a trip, to Somerset.

When i think of Somerset i think about my nan, My youth, of a school no longer there, replaced by the new builds of an ever growing society, and Glastonbury, with its energy and magical undercurrent. Not forgetting the crappy bottle neck past the Stones of the Ancients. But one thing i never grow tired of seeing is the green fields, rolling mists and beautiful villages that pepper the landscape, it seems a world apart from the concrete smog filled hustle and bustle of the area in which we currently find ourselves.

We loaded the Broom, took a familar and off we set to explore Somerset, The sun was red that day due to the dust from the sahara and the hurricanes blowing a gale, which gave the sky a unusual tinge, like the one you get before a snow storm this only seem to excite us more! We landed in a place called Watchet, with its beautiful harbour and twinkling lights over the sea, when we got to the cottage i looked out of the window and saw to my delight, fields of sheep, hills and pasture as far as the eye could see, not a soul in sight, Just us and the arse end of the hurricane. Bliss.

Over the next week we visited every Village, drove through every hamlet, battled numerous tractors, met friendly barstaff that handed out dog biscuits to every wagging tail. We went north, south, east and west on our quest for the holy grail. Meeting some stunning souls along the way.

    What i learnt.

Not everyone can open a sandwich correctly. You can turn the car into a media haven that would not look out of place in a spaceship. Takeaway coffee cup lids can be complicated, There is pineapple puree served with dinner not desert.  Pictures are deceiving. roadsigns and speedlimits are clearly only meant for me. My SatNav is useless. There are too many 'Back' Lanes. I love stone buildings, Tractor drivers understand Portuguese sign language. I can confuse left and right after a while. My insomnia is area related lol. Fibre Optic broadband is not country wide. Everytime i turned on the TV provided, Jeremy Kyle was on.

After seeing all we could, we chose rush hour, on a friday the schools break up for half term to return to the concrete jungle. with colourful language we hit the M25 carpark wondering what the hell were we doing coming back.

  3. Let me tell you a tale…which explains the ridiculously delicious mood I’m in currently.

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always know who I am to the core, what interests me and what doesn’t. true…I wanted to be Ursula, and felt the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz was unfairly mistreated. I mean, who was going to feed the flying monkeys when she was melted over a pair of shoes? See. Look I’m off on a tangent.

Anyway, I compromised somewhat in adulthood.  Why? Fear of other people’s opinions.  Which seems ludicrous given how I look and how opinionated I can be. I think the reason for that is my appearance doesn’t matter, what I’m saying about a situation, doesn’t matter at the end of the day. Opinions are like arseholes and all that. It’s all materialistic, and gift wrapping.  it’s not what makes up a soul or person that we see. The core or root of who we are comes from within, our morals, principles and beliefs is what I think matters, harder to justify and explain, as no-one else has ever walked in your shoes and nobody can ever prove you wrong…although I have met those that have tried.

So, when Flynn and I set up The Hallowed Spiritual Sanctuary last year, we felt, for some reason that if we were true to who we really were, then it may not work, we had to appeal to the masses and be the watered-down version, the socially acceptable versions of ourselves for it to work. What was we thinking. Like seriously.  Fear. I’ve seen in the media across the country how Metaphysical shops get bombarded with hate speech, forced out of shops, windows broken, stupid comments made. Just harassed for their chosen way of life, why does it matter so much to people? The world is a messed-up place and it’s all down to ignorance.

Because of this, we are going to stand up for who we are, be who we want to be, and help those in the same situation, hopefully. Yes, I imagine it won’t be plain sailing. (Neither was being alternative in a town full of normal but thank you for the thick skin)

Gone is the fluff.  I’ve dusted off my hat. The wind has changed, if you look to the skies, you will probably see…. not me, would take a hurricane to get me off the ground. But you know what I mean.

We are going to share our experiences with you, and what we have learnt over the past 30 years. It’s not going to be all fluffy and whimsical and it sure as hell isn’t like the movies. So, we welcome you to

    Hallowed Grimoire.

  4. Well. Tonight after circle, minding my own business a beast the size of a dragon flew through the open door, which caused a squealing fest and resulting in me shutting myself in the spider realm ( toilet ) after much "ado" Mandy Flynn was heroic and using the power of the feathered top hat, and karmic eating book or something bestowed with the power of archangels themselves removed the offending mythological creature and cast him out into the dark abyss. Where he ( clearly a man, no sense of direction) joined his winged compadres trying to smash their way into the Hallowed. ( probably to flirt ) I took a photo they were that brazen ???? I fear I can only go to work in an all out bee suit, ( or coat of armour if anyone has one laying around)

Turns out they are female, google taught me that the girls have 6 feathered antenna, whereas the males have seven. what disturbs me most is the Mediumship circle leader suddenly turned into Photographer extraordinaire which was what unleashed the kraken in the first place!
